“As a reminder that elevation alone does not define quality, the washed lots from Torcaza were all stunning this year, a testament to the area’s remarkable consistency and character. Torcaza is situated just below Estación and Poro and is among the most prolific areas of Finca Sophia. Its name comes from the native Torcaza-Aliblanca, or White-winged Dove, a bird found throughout Finca Sophia and the Tierras Altas of Panamá. Together with the Quetzal, the Torcaza was the inspiration for the Finca Sophia logo, first introduced in 2014.
We were so lucky to visit this farm in 2024 guided by Kelly Hartmann. It is a beautiful farm, very high in altitude.
