Description
Region: Nyeri, Kenya
Producers: Around 900 smallholder farmers from the Gachatha Farmers Cooperative Society
Varietal: Sl-28, SL-34, Batian, Ruiru 11
Process: Washed: Fermented in open concrete tanks for 24-48 hours, then thoroughly washed in water channels for 24-72 hours, dried on raised beds
Tasting notes: White Grape, Chardonnay, Magnolia
Cup notes: After the first 2 Kenyans we had leaned towards juicy, loud flavors, this one is much more elegant and clean. A very well structured white wine acidity and a buttery mouth feel reminds us of a good Chardonnay. The bright, sweet and tart white grape note gives it plenty of intensity, with the delicate white floral tones of magnolia and coffee flower coming to the surface as the cup begins to cool.
