In 2008, Mario Alarcon took over his family's farm, Monte De Oro. His previous job as an industrial mechanical engineer has helped him fine tune the processing and drying systems at Monte De Oro, in particular its more efficient usage of water within Monte De Oro's wet mill. The farm sits at 1600masl with 2 volcanoes looming over it, often gentle rumblings can be felt and heard through the ground as you walk along the estate. Rich volcanic soil, extremely careful and attentive growing and processing methods all contribute to the consistent quality that Monte De Oro is known for. In the cup, we find an abundance of red fruits and florals. Cherry blossom, red wine, and rose are all immediately noticeable while the cup is still hot.

Cup notes: As it begins to cool, mandarin and orange blossom notes rise to the surface. While the intensely fruited character would normally point towards process-y flavors, this one has been carefully roasted very, very lightly to avoid any overt funk in the final cup.
