Chelchele Washing Station is located in the Banko Chelchele region, at the center of Gedeb in Yirgacheffe. Every process within their system is meticulously managed with excellent record keeping, from the time cherry enters all the way through processing and sending to the dry mill, it is labelled and separated by individual lot numbers. Chelchele also maintains a sophisticated wastewater lagoon to ensure water used during processing doesn't enter the local drinking water supply. Roughly 650 producers deliver cherry throughout the harvest season, each one averaging around 2 hectares. To help form longstanding relationships with these local smallholders, the folks at Chelchele offer education, competitive cherry pricing, and provide assistance with certification processes.

All of this outstanding effort shows clearly throughout the cup, offering an incredibly juicy blackberry syrup note, a lovely earl grey tea flourishing as it cools, beautifully well defined citrus tones, and an orange blossom floral note settling in on the linger.
