Finca Buena Vista is located in San Agustín within the Huila region which is situated in the middle of the Colombian Massif in the Andes. The Massif provides unparalleled biodiversity, benefitting from the traits of 14 rivers as they all converge into one centralized site. This confluence of geographical traits proves excellent for farmers, giving access to irrigation water, unique rainfall patterns, and extremely high altitudes. Historically, San Agustín is very well known for its pre-Colombian sites and has been declared it as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Uniquely, Finca Buena Vista harvests most of its crop during Colombia’s “mitaca,” or fly crop.

Colombia is the second largest producer of coffee in the world and the largest producer of washed and Arabica coffee. Annual production ranges from 12-15 million bags weighing 70 kilos each. Colombia exports approximately 12.5 million bags and internal consumption is about 2 million bags annually. Coffee is grown at an altitude of 1,200-2,000 meters.

Colombia only produces washed Arabica coffee. The three primary varieties grown in Colombia are Catura, Typica, Bourbon, and VariadadColombia (developed by the FNC to be resistant to coffee leaf rust disease).
