Farm and Producer
This coffee comes from smallholder growers around Chelbesa in the Yirgacheffe area. Habtamu Fikadu Aga, trading as Kuri Mountain Coffee, collects cherries for processing at the local washing station.
The company connects growers with centralized processing and direct export. This selection is an outgrower coffee from Chelbesa, separate from the company's own farm in Kuri.
Variety
Kurume is a regional Ethiopian landrace name associated with small cherries and widely used in the Guji and Gedeo areas. Local names can encompass variation between plantings.
Dega is an Ethiopian regional landrace name associated with cool highland cultivation. Local names can encompass variation between plantings.
Processing
Cherries are depulped and the coffee ferments under water before washing. A second water soak follows, then the parchment coffee dries on raised beds. Fermentation duration is adjusted to conditions at the station.
