Farm and Producer
Finca Hartmann is a family coffee farm in Santa Clara, in Panama’s Chiriquí highlands. Its history reaches back to Alois Hartmann’s arrival in Panama in 1912 and the farm later developed by his son Ratibor. Subsequent generations continue the family’s coffee work while maintaining forest and native shade trees around the planted areas. The farm’s habitat also makes it a destination for birdwatching.
Variety
Gesha, also spelled Geisha, is an Arabica variety with Ethiopian origins. It is valued for high cup-quality potential and floral aromatics, especially under suitable high-elevation growing conditions. Its expression also depends on cultivation, processing, and roasting.
Processing
In washed processing, the fruit pulp and remaining mucilage are removed before the coffee is dried. This approach often emphasizes a defined structure and separation of flavors, while fermentation and drying choices still influence the result.
