Farm and Producer
Finca Sophia was established in 2008 as a high-elevation coffee project in Nueva Suiza, Panama. Willem Boot, David Pohl, and Kelly Hartmann guide its work. Cool conditions and limited sunlight above 2,000 meters make cultivation demanding and influence the pace of fruit maturation.
This selection is Reserve Washed 4 from the Colibrí and Poró sectors, identified as lot 40 in the farm's 2026 auction.
Variety
Gesha, also spelled Geisha, is an Arabica variety with Ethiopian origins. It is valued for high cup-quality potential and floral aromatics, especially under suitable high-elevation growing conditions. Its expression also depends on cultivation, processing, and roasting.
Processing
This is a washed Gesha: the cherry skin and pulp are removed, the remaining mucilage is released and washed away, and the coffee is dried in parchment. It was offered separately as Reserve Washed 4 in Finca Sophia's 2026 harvest collection.
