Farm and Producer

José Ignacio Gómez leads Finca El Paraíso in Buesaco, Nariño, following three generations of family involvement in coffee. The farm's growing environment is influenced by air moving through the Ijagüí basin, and its varietal program includes washed Gesha selections.

Variety

Gesha, also spelled Geisha, is an Arabica variety with Ethiopian origins. It has high cup-quality potential under suitable growing conditions and is often associated with floral aromatics. Those tendencies do not determine the tasting notes of an individual lot.

Processing

This washed selection uses fermentation followed by removal of the remaining fruit material. Once the coffee has been depulped and the mucilage released, it is washed and dried in parchment. Careful fermentation and drying preserve the coffee before milling and roasting.
