About Finca Las Margaritas, Cafe Granja La Esperanza
Las Margaritas is part of Rigoberto and Luis Eduardo Herrera's Café Granja La Esperanza project in Caicedonia, Valle del Cauca. The farm supports separate variety plantings and processing trials within the family's wider coffee operation.
CGLE-17 is one of the project's own selections. This lot is prepared using a hybrid washed process.
Variety
CGLE-17 is a Café Granja La Esperanza selection described as a Gesha and Caturra hybrid. The name distinguishes the producer's selected planting material; its cup character also depends on cultivation, harvest and processing.
Processing
The hybrid washed preparation has two fermentation stages: one while the coffee is in whole cherry and another after depulping. The remaining mucilage is then removed and the parchment coffee is dried.
