Farm and Producer
Finca Hartmann is a family coffee farm in Santa Clara, Chiriquí, Panama. Successive generations have developed its coffee plantings while maintaining native forest and habitat for birds.
The farm is also a site of bird observation and conservation research. This selection is a washed SL28 identified as Lot 50, kept distinct from the family's Gesha coffees and other SL28 lots.
Variety
SL28 was selected in Kenya in the 1930s and has since spread to other coffee-growing countries. It combines drought tolerance with high cup-quality potential; growing conditions and post-harvest work shape the expression of each lot.
Processing
In washed processing, the fruit pulp and remaining mucilage are removed before the coffee is dried. This approach often emphasizes a defined structure and separation of flavors, while fermentation and drying choices still influence the result.
