Farm and Producer
Alo Coffee, founded by Tamiru Tadesse, works with growers and processing stations across Sidama. This selection comes from outgrowers delivering cherries to its Bona Zuria operation, at listed elevations of 2,100–2,300 meters.
The outgrower model brings cherries from surrounding small farms to a central site for sorting and processing. Alo maintains separate preparations, including washed, natural, and experimental lots.
Variety
74110 is a compact Ethiopian Arabica selection developed through the Jimma Agricultural Research Center’s work on coffee berry disease resistance and productivity. It originated from Metu-Bishari material and was released in 1979. Growing conditions and processing remain important to its cup expression.
74112 is a compact Ethiopian Arabica selection developed through the Jimma Agricultural Research Center’s work on coffee berry disease resistance and productivity. It originated from Metu-Bishari material and was released in 1979. Growing conditions and processing remain important to its cup expression.
74158 is another Ethiopian Arabica selection associated with research-station development. It is kept distinct from 74110 and 74112 in planting records; its cup expression depends on the growing site and post-harvest preparation.
Processing
This red honey coffee is depulped, then dried with mucilage still attached to the parchment. The name describes a honey-processing preparation rather than an added ingredient. Honey color terms vary between producers; retained fruit material and drying conditions can influence sweetness, texture, and fruit expression.
