Elida Estate, Centro Loma Lot
Elida Estate is part of Lamastus Family Estates in Alto Quiel, Boquete, in Panama’s Chiriquí highlands. The Lamastus family has grown coffee here since 1918. The estate lies partly within Volcán Barú National Park, with coffee growing among volcanic soils and surrounding native cloud forest.
Centro Loma is located in the central area of Elida Estate, partly within Volcán Barú National Park. This lot grows at 1,780–1,820 masl, in the estate’s cool, forested highland environment.
Variety
Gesha, also spelled Geisha, is an Arabica variety with Ethiopian origins. Panamanian Gesha is valued for its high cup-quality potential at altitude and often shows delicate floral and stone-fruit aromatics. Cultivation, harvest, processing, and roasting all shape how those characteristics appear in the final cup.
Processing
This washed lot underwent one day of anaerobic fermentation in the Reactor Fermenter, followed by washing and slow sun-drying on raised beds. The producer identifies it as EGW ASD RF1D LOMA CENTRO 2801-100225 and records the start of its resting period as February 10, 2025.
The Reactor Fermenter, or RF, is the family’s sealed stainless-steel vessel. It rotates during anaerobic fermentation to distribute the must—the liquid surrounding the coffee fruit—evenly.
After fermentation, washing removes the remaining fruit material before drying. The raised beds allow air to circulate around the parchment as moisture is gradually reduced.
