Farm and Producer

Rodrigo Sánchez Valencia and Claudia Samboní manage Finca Monteblanco in San Adolfo, Huila. The family farm grows multiple varieties in separate selections and develops different fermentation preparations for them.

Monteblanco is part of Rodrigo's Aromas del Sur project, whose dry mill in Pitalito prepares coffees for export. Gold Grand Cru is the name of this Gesha's staged washed preparation.

Variety

Gesha, also spelled Geisha, is an Arabica variety with Ethiopian origins. It is valued for high cup-quality potential and floral aromatics, especially under suitable high-elevation growing conditions. Its expression also depends on cultivation, processing, and roasting.

Processing

Gold Grand Cru is Monteblanco’s name for a washed preparation with staged fermentation before and after depulping, including a low-oxygen stage. The coffee is washed before drying. Separating the stages allows the producer to manage fermentation while retaining the structure of a washed coffee.
