Farm and Producer
Gonzalo Hernández and José Padilla developed Coffea diversa's Guatemala garden in the Suchitán area of Jutiapa. Inspired by the original Costa Rica collection, the project grows multiple botanical coffee selections in Guatemala's eastern volcanic highlands.
Sudan Rume is one of the varieties cultivated here alongside Gesha, Laurina, Mokka, and other selections. This lot is prepared as a natural coffee.
Variety
Sudan Rume is an Arabica selection associated with the Boma Plateau. Its genetic diversity has made it useful in coffee breeding, including as a parent of newer hybrids. Here it is offered as a named selection, with the farm and processing method shaping its individual expression.
Processing
Natural processing dries the coffee with the cherry surrounding the seed. Contact with the fruit during fermentation and drying can contribute to fruit expression and body; careful moisture management remains important.
