Papa Joe Espresso is an “Italian Old World” style roast, using a carefully blended mixture of chocolatey, smooth, and extremely sweet flavor profiles.

Our expert roasters crafted this profile to be a favorite for daily enjoyment, whether as coffee or espresso. The beans undergo a slow Maillard reaction, caramelizing sugars to enhance their inherent sweetness. To achieve that Italian-style richness without becoming oily, hot air is extracted from the roaster in the final 30 seconds, ensuring only conduction heat from the drum. This adds a dimension reminiscent of a morning espresso on the cobblestone streets of Italia.

Released in time for Fathers Day, 2025, Papa Joe Espresso was named in honor of the father of Cafe Kreyol President, Joseph Stazzone, who not only shares the same name, but looks strikingly similar to the cartoon bear on the bag itself. Papa Joe himself enjoys this remarkable blend on a DeLonghi home espresso machine, yet it is perfected in a way to make it versatile to any brewing method of your choice.

In honor of all the Fathers out there, especially Papa Joe, this cup reaches it’s full potential while being sipped quietly, first thing in the morning, from a rocking chair on your front porch.

Papa Joe Espresso is an “Italian Old World” style roast, using a carefully blended mixture of chocolatey, smooth, and extremely sweet flavor profiles.

Our skilled team of roasters has developed this profile to be a crowd-pleasing everyday coffee or espresso. These beans were taking slowly through the maillard reaction of the roast, caramelizing the sugars to bring out sweetness. In order to bring out that Italian style heavy body, without creating an oily bean, the hot air was removed from the roaster for the final thirty seconds, creating only a conduction transfer of heat from the metal drum. This adds a layer of depth akin to that morning espresso on the cobble streets of Italia.
