Homunculus is our Ethiopian iteration of Barismo's Wabi-Sabi espresso series. The idea behind the Wab-Sabi project is to blend two different but complimentary coffees from the same country to produce an espresso rich with character that we feel represents the terroir of the regions included. This year's Homunculus features a fruity, body forward and rich coffee from the Sidamo region and a floral and crisp coffee laden with stonefruit from Yirgacheffe- the resulting cup is super sweet and complex with lots of blueberry and jasmine.

"A homunculus (Latin for "little man", plural: "homunculi"; from the masculine diminutive form of homo, "man") is a representation of a small human being. Popularized in sixteenth century alchemy and nineteenth century fiction, it has historically referred to the creation of a miniature, fully formed human. The concept has roots in preformationism as well as earlier folklore and alchemic traditions. Currently, in scientific fields, a homunculus may refer to any scale model of the human body that illustrates physiological, psychological, or other abstract human characteristics or functions."
